How NFL rarity records are counted

Start with completed games

The first football release covers NFL American football. Weekly player statistics and final schedules provide the historical record; recent play-by-play adds drive and comeback achievements. Preseason is excluded. Regular season and postseason are labeled in each game.

Keep player and team opportunities separate

Passing, rushing, receiving, and multi-role records use player-game rows containing the required fields. Team-score records use team-games. Drive records use drives. Those populations have different sizes and should not be compared as if they were interchangeable.

Handle plays before counting them

Nullified plays do not count as successful fourth-down conversions or touchdown sequences. Kneels and spikes are excluded from sequence achievements, while official player totals preserve the provider’s official scoring. A two-role threshold requires the same player to satisfy both conditions in the same game.

Allow scorer corrections

Postgame statistics can change. The scheduled rebuild refreshes current NFL data and records its source hashes. The page states which years have play-by-play coverage; a historical final score does not imply that a full drive log is available.
